Live Black-Lipped Abalone

Live Black-Lipped Abalone (Haliotis rubra) as a run of catch, sizes generally 200-350 grams and 350+ grams. These are packaged in foam boxes at 10 Kg per box.

Abalone that is of the highest standard are weighed and placed on plastic sheets in crates and placed in our holding tanks. They are removed each day and individually inspected for condition. Sizes vary to suit particular customer requirements, standard being:

• less than 340 grams
• 340 to 450 grams
• 450 + grams

All abalone that are slow or seemingly weak are rejected from live shipment and are directed to frozen product. Dead abalone are directed to waste disposal.
